    Murmansk

Teriberka is situated on the coast of the Barents Sea at the mouth of the Teriberka River. It holds historical significance, with mentions dating back to circa 1523. Teriberka stands as one of the most renowned settlements in the Kola district.

In 2016, Teriberka earned a spot on the list of the 20 most popular world tourist destinations by National Geographic Traveler magazine. This ancient fishing village on the Barents Sea coast offers the closest access to the Arctic Ocean in Russia, reachable by car. The filming of the movie "Leviathan" took place here, adding to its allure.

Despite being only 120 km from Murmansk, the journey itself offers stunning views of endless tundra, imposing hills, and rocky landscapes. Teriberka comprises two parts: Staraya Teriberka and Lodeynoye. Staraya Teriberka resembles traditional coastal fishing villages, with wooden houses, boats, and boat garages. Nearby lies the "cemetery of abandoned ships," where small fishing trawlers from the 1930s-1950s rest in the shallows of Teriberskaya Bay.

Lodeynoye, the newer part, showcases Soviet-era buildings weathered by sea winds. From here, the final leg of the journey to the so-called "edge of the earth" begins. The Arctic Ocean coast is a short walk away, offering awe-inspiring views of crashing waves, round boulders, and a sense of standing at the edge of the Earth.

For the adventurous, swimming in the frigid Arctic Ocean is an option, while others may prefer the traditional ritual of drinking warming beverages and collecting ocean water. Teribersky Waterfalls, where water from a lake cascades almost into the sea, and Coastal Defense Battery No. 199, a relic of wartime history, are other notable attractions.

The Teriberka Natural Park covers 2,418.5 hectares and requires a permit to visit. However, the village itself is not included in the park boundaries, so no permit is needed to explore it. After lunch in Teriberka, return to Murmansk in the evening for dinner.Overnight in Murmansk.
